Easy pasta

Image
I just got done with work and as most things come to mind, I called up the mains to go somewhere and get something to eat. When you're hungry or if it deals with food, its an automatic acceptance. I was expecting to go to a restaurant or plate lunch joint, but he said there was food so I ate at his place. We had shrimp linguine with chicken and some side garlic bread. I never had this type of pasta so I was kind of amazed? I was so used to the regulars with cream or tomato sauce. There wasn't linguine so it was substituted with spaghetti, but it was still good. From what I heard it had butter, herb seasonings (oregano), olive oil and parmesan. Such simple ingredients can make a good meal, I guess its true that small things can go a long way.

gobble gobble day

My boss gave us turkeys for our thanksgiving. Its my first turkey and I had no idea what to do or how to make it. What made it more complicated was I worked the morning shift at my other job. Thankfully I have someone who cooks on most holidays for his family and I asked for help. The night before thanksgiving I went over and learned how to prepare the stuffing and turkey. The neck and gizzard were boiled to add to the stuffing. He sliced 4 loaves of bread to bite sized pieces and added cream of mushroom, celery, onion, minced olives, poultry seasoning. After the turkey was dried, rubbed with butter or oil, stuffed and tied, my boyfriend placed mines on a rack and in a pan. He gave me directions on how to roast it: preheat the oven and roast at 200 degrees until the marker pops up, baste and bump up the temperature until it browns. It turned out great.

Restaurant week and sadly they didn't like any of the choices. Originally we all planned to go Haleiwa Joes in the North Shore because my cousin them didn't want to wait until 430 for Kaneohe to open or a line. Driving on the H3, my boyfriend and I were looking at the menu on our phone and realized the prime rib wasnt being served until dinner which starts at 5. That was the main reason we chose that place and what time was it? It was around 12. There was no way we would wait that long, we even starved ourselves that morning so we made a U-turn and headed towards Ala Moana to Gens. Gen is an all you can eat Korean BBQ House. Brisket, steak, intestines, shrimp, bulgogi, garlic chicken, japchae, samgyupsal. Finally after so long, I got my fill of Korean food. It was worth it for $16 per person and a 2 hr limit. Go during lunch everybody, its cheaper than our old favorite Sikdorak lol.

work day

Im been kinda busy lately so my blogs been lacking on interesting things about food. Every Saturday my boss goes to China town before opening up the store. Normally he brings pastries, dumplings, noodles, char siu, or chicharron. He asked what I wanted the day before and I requested for jook. Jook is a rice porridge dish that basically you create, and by that I mean you can pretty much add whatever meat or ingredient you want. My boss wanted to try something new before and bought it with meat balls, liver, intestines, and sometimes tripe. I liked it and it wasn't weird or anything because I ate animal insides in dishes like dinuguan, commonly know as "chocolate meat." What made it better today was that the weather permitted it, it was gloomy and pouring rain. He also got other things. The noodles remind me of the manapua days where Id drown them in their shoyu/hot sauce mixture. Another new thing was the dumpling which had mushrooms, pork, carrots, and bitter melon. ...

Seeing that Thanksgiving is around the corner and pumpkin is a definite must, heres another take on pumpkin "pie". A coworker introduced this during a pot luck and I couldnt stop eating it. The others thought so also and said it would go good with coffee. Chewy brownie layer topped with oreos and cheesecake. I had to get the recipe and the instructions from the website delish seemed so easy. I want to make this next time I go to my boyfriends house and share with them because they love to bake. Ingredients 1 box brownie mix and other ingredients listed to make it cream cheese pumpkin puree sugar eggs vanilla extract pumpkin spice oreo cookies caramel for topping Im going to summarize the parts and link the site down below for further details. First make the brownie mixture and pour into a pan. Add oreos and cover with pumpkin cheesecake mixture. Top with more oreos and bake for 50 min. http://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/recipes/a5626...
